Most of us would already be familiar with the concept of BarCamp – a group of  people gather to share their knowledge through open, participatory-style sessions workshops. Traditionally, BarCamps have been organised by tech-geeks, for tech-geeks, where topics range from programming to the latest tech products an attendee could be building.

LitCamp, organised by local book cafe & dynamic arts space, The Pigeonhole, works on a similar concept. However, this time, the topics at hand are, as its name suggest, centred on poetry, prose and theatre.

Hosted by Eugene founder of creative writing school Monsters Under The Bed, LitCamp brings together literature lovers alike as they share and celebrate their love for the art of the written and spoken word.

The Programme (accurate as of 23 June 2011)

1. [Keynote] Assoc Prof Brian Bergen-Aurand (NTU):  ”Forethought”, examining gender/sexuality/embodiment/kinship in differing versions of FRANKENSTEIN –print and film.
2. Chew Lin Kay: “How Pablo Neruda ruined my dating life”
3. Abu Jaliwala
4. June M. H. Yang: Speculative fiction, esp in the local context
5. Bani Haykal: The sonic/musical connections between specific words and phrases
6. Fabian Wenyi Lua: On the New Yorker food reviews
7. Vicki Yang: On Poskod.SG
8. Lucas Ho: On the state of literature education in Singapore
9. Adrian Jones: The poetry of Dylan Thomas and Jay Z, and how it all links together (in the words of Adrian Jones)
