Tan Oe Pang is a leading local ink artist who is very known for his daring use of ink and exaggerated compositions. He was trained under the tutelage of renowned Chinese ink artist, Fan Chang Tien, and has had his works exihibited across the world.
Most known for his trademark painting style, otherwise referred to as ‘海派’ (hai pai), Tan Oe Pang portrays his urban subjects using Chinese ink to tell the story of these subjects.

The National Art Gallery, Singapore recently received a donation of 20 of Tan Oe Pang’s artworks by by Dr George Quek, Chairman of BreadTalk Group Limited and board member of Singapore Art Museum.
Dr George Quek has been a keen supporter of the arts for many years and was recently awarded a Partner of Heritage Award at National Heritage Board’s Patron of Heritage Award 2010.

The exhibition features 16 selected artworks from the donation collection, including, Painting of Buffalo and Fish and Lotus.
