Liu Kang: Tropical Vanguard

Notable artist Liu Kang, is a pioneer of the Singapore art scene and his contributions to this field has had great influence in shaping Singapore’s art history. While Liu Kang is most known for his Balinese-themed figurative paintings, he has dabbled in many facets of art, including interior design, music, literature, dance, photography, and visual arts.

In commemoration of the 100th year of his birth, a forum titled Liu Kang: Tropical Vanguard will be held on Saturday, 2 April 2011.

Jointly organised by the National Art Gallery, Singapore, Global Chinese Arts & Culture Society and Lianhe Zaobao, the forum brings together a panel of established artists and scholars to discuss the local and international perspectives of the artist.

The panelists include Professor Lin Xiang Xiong, Ms Toshiko Rawanchaikul, Professor Li Yi, Professor Tan Siah Kwee, Professor Tan Siah Kwee, and Dr Lien Lian Sze.
